UFC officials confirmed on Sunday morning that Canadian middleweight and Champion’s Creed Martial Arts fighter Nick Ring will square up against Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt and Nova Uniao fighter Caio Magalhaes at December’s UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Australia.

Magalhaes (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) started his mixed martial arts career going 5-0 before making his debut where he has since gone 1-1, losing a decision to Buddy Roberts. Following the first loss of his career, Magalhaes was forced to take a year off due to an injury. He made his return at UFC on Fuel TV 10 earning a submission victory over Karlos Vemola.

After his win over Court McGee at UFC 149, Ring (13-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) was expected to face Costa Philippou at UFC 154 but was forced out of the fight due to an illness the day of the weigh ins. He then lost a razor thin split decision to Chris Camozzi after an eight month lay-off since his last fight. Ring looked to make his way back to the willing column over hyped Ultimate Fighter product Uriah Hall at UFC on Fox Sports 1 but was pulled from the card and replaced by Josh Samman. Ring also holds wins in the UFC over James Head, and Riki Fukuda.

UFC Fight Night 33 takes place on December 7th, 2013 in Brisbane, Australia at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and is headlined by a heavyweight war between Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Mark Hunt. The card is expected to air on Fox Sports 1.
