UFC president Dana White confirmed that plans are in the works for UFC light heavywight champion Jon Jones to face Glover Teixeira this February.

The bout would serve as the main event to the Super Bowl weekend card, which could either be a pay-per-view or air on FOX as part of the networks Super Bowl events.

White, in an interview with ESPN, said “That’s what the champ wants. We’ll probably have that fight on the Super Bowl card in New Jersey.”

Jones, from nearby New York, defeated Alexander Gustafsson to improve to 19-1 in his career. The win, via decision, gave him a record-breaking sixth consecutive title defense and 10th straight victory inside the Octagon.

Teixeira (22-2) is unbeaten in his last 20 fights, including a recent TKO victory over Ryan Bader.
