Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos became the first – and only – fighter to stop Cain Velasquez, claiming the title in the process.

In the rematch, it was Velasquez securing the win, scoring a decision victory.

The two meet this Saturday at UFC 166 from Houston, and “Cigano” believes the past battles will help tell the tale of this third meeting.

“I think we showed a little of ourselves in each fight. In the first fight, I knocked him out, which is something I did a lot before,” said dos Santos, during an appearance on UFC Tonight. “The second fight showed how he fights. Now we’ve learned more about each other and it’ll be great for the fans.”

Dos Santos, who defeated Mark Hunt to claim a rematch with the champion, said the loss to Velasquez “affected me a lot.”

“It was not good,” he said. “Nobody likes to lose. I learned a lot. I’m smarter now and I have a lot more experience and I’m going to use that.”
