UFC President Dana White has repeatedly argued that his promotion isn’t giving anyone a  pass in terms of abusing TRT, and recently the promotion suspended Ben Rothwell for elevated testosterone, following his UFC 164 win over Brandon Vera. In fact the UFC stepped in and disciplined Rothwell, after the heavyweight only received an administrative warning from Wisconsin officials. Rothwell had been cleared for TRT heading into the August 31st card, but his levels were apparently above the allowable limit following the event.

While attending a pre-UF 166 event this week, White was asked to comment on the recent situation, and here is some of what the UFC boss had to say (comments via MMA Fighting.com):

“I told you guys, however long ago it was, what our stance on TRT was,” White said. “We have a position on TRT, and anybody, no matter where we are, we’re going to go after guys that are abusing TRT.

“When you’re a professional athlete, this stuff is serious s–t. You’d better know what’s going on with your own f–king body and what’s going in it.”

The UFC President was also asked about the status of Vera, who was stopped by Rothwell in the third round, and has just one win in his last 6 UFC bouts. White relayed that “I would imagine if he hasn’t been cut yet, he’s probably not getting cut.”

It’s possible part of the reason “The Truth” wasn’t let go was because of Rothwell’s infraction. Vera’s last win took place 2011 when he earned a UD win over Eliot Marshall. Prior to facing Rothwell, Vera was stopped by “Shogun” Rua at UFC on FOX 4 last August.
