According to Joey Beltran, the fighter has been released from his UFC contract.

Beltran, who returned as a light heavyweight, was defeated by Fabio Maldonado recently. He is 14-9 with one no-contest in his MMA career.

“Thank you UFC, Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta and Joe Silva for the opportunities you have given me,” Beltran posted on Twitter. “Time for a new chapter in my fight life.”

Beltran, nicknamed “The Mexicutioner,” was cut the first time after a 1-4 slide from 2010-12. He suffered losses to Lavar Johnson, Stipe Miocic, Pat Barry and Matt Mitrione around a win over Aaron Rosa.

After earning a victory outside the UFC, the promotion brought him back at 205 pounds. Beltran, though, lost to James Te Huna, had a no-contest vs. Igor Pokrajac and was topped by Maldonado.
