Tito Ortiz “tried everything” within his powers to keep the planned fight with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson on for November.

However, doctors and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney would not go along with it, forcing the cancellation of the contest.

Also, the promotion went ahead and moved the pay-per-view to Spike TV with a main event pitting Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler against Eddie Alvarez.

Ortiz, who has battled neck injuries and back issues throughout the latter stages of his fighting career, made a statement via Twitter on the matter.

“I tried everything to fight,” he wrote. “My doc and Bjorn made the final decision. I will heal and will be back. Thank you for the support.”

Jackson was completely removed from the card and is expected to make his Bellator debut in the near future.
