UFC president Dana White had strong praise for John Lineker after the flyweight finished Phil Harris recently.
At the same time, White acknowledged the problem with Lineker – missing weight.
“He’s so good that if he had made weight on the three times he’s missed, he’d probably have a title shot right now,” White said.
Lineker failed to get down to 126 for his most recent fight with Harris, tipping the scales at 128 pounds. The 23-year-old also missed weight earlier this year vs. Jose Maria and in his UFC debut – a loss to Louis Gaudinot in 2012 via submission.
Since that defeat, Lineker (23-6) has posted four consecutive wins, three of which have been TKO finishes this year alone.
Lineker is believed to be setting up arrangements to work with Mike Dolce to get his weight under control.
