Not too long after news broke that Tatsuya Kawajiri would be signing with the UFC, FightSportAsia was the first to announce that, despite his recent call out of Cub Swanson, he would be facing none other than Nova Uniao’s Hacran Dias at UFC Singapore.

Currently riding a 5 fight winning streak, four of which were done in his current featherweight run, Kawajiri (32-7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will look to become the UFC’s next Japanese star following the release of Yushin Okami. Widely considered to be a top 10 featherweight by fight fans around the world, Kawajiri has spent the last year inactive in the world of mixed martial arts having not competed since defeating former UFC fighter Michihiro Omigawa at DREAM 18. “The Crusher” will certainly come back seeking to prove his relevance in the sport of mixed martial arts and establish himself as a threat to anyone in the featherweight division.

Dias (22-2-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), his opponent, was considered to be a top prospect in mixed martial arts boasting a 20-1 record coming into the UFC. After winning his debut against Iuri Alcantara, he lost a decision to Nik Lentz back in May but as a fighter from the world renowned Nova Uniao gym he will certainly come back stronger than ever and will prove to be a good test for Kawajiri.

This featherweight fight is scheduled to take place on January 4th, 2014 at the UFC Singapore card. Also featured on the card is a welterweight fight between Jake Ellenberger and Tarec Saffiedine. For more updates, rumors, and fight announcements stay tuned to MMAConvert!
