Browne Floors Barnett

Travis Browne improved his resume for “Fighter of the Year” with an impressive finish of former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett. Browne caught Barnett with a knee that forced the former champion to look for a takedown. That effort would prove fatal after Browne unloaded with a volley of elbows that closely resembled his finish of Gabriel Gonzaga earlier this year. Browne has won three fights this year via a finish, with all coming over top competition.

Browne is now in line to face top contender Fabricio Werdum for a shot at UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez when the champ returns later this year. The loss is only Barnett’s second in his last eleven fights and could put him in line to rematch Mark Hunt in 2014.

Browne with a knee and he knocks Barnett out with the same elbows he finished Gonzaga with as Barnett looks for a takedown.
