UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones believes what happened to Anderson Silva recently was “just an extremely unfortunate situation.”
Silva suffered a broken leg after a kick of his landed on the kneecap of Chris Weidman in their UFC middleweight title match.
“The Spider” was forced to undergo surgery, having a rod inserted into his leg. His recovery time is currently at several months.
Jones, who uses leg kicks as a major part of his offensive attack, as asked on Twitter recently if what happened to Silva will change his style.
“No Anderson’s last fight will not change my psychology towards kicking at all,” he wrote, “that was just an extremely unfortunate situation.”
Jones will defend his title later this year against Glover Teixeira.
