He was the star of the WEC back when that organization started getting national exposure, and after transitioning to the UFC, he’s been that organization’s ace in the hole for all things having to do with the West Coast and/or the smaller weight classes. I’m talking about Urijah Faber of course, who’s transformed the narrative for UFC 169 from “Can Dominick Cruz unify the belts?” to “Can Faber actually beat Renan Barao this time?” And that’s fine. Faber is more of a star than Cruz, and his presence elevates what would otherwise be a main event only hardcore fans would appreciate.
