Lightweights Jamie Varner and James Krause have agreed to square off this May at UFC 173.

Officials confirmed the fight late Monday night.

The event is set for May 24 from Las Vegas, with UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman defending his belt against Vitor Belfort in the main event.

Varner (21-9-1) is a former WEC champion who returned to the UFC and defeated Edson Barboza. He has dropped two straight since, including a recent loss to Abel Trujillo.

Krauser (20-5) had his eight-fight win streak snapped by Bobby Green. He has gone 1-1 in two Octagon bouts.
