“UFC Tonight” aired Wednesday evening on FOX Sports 1, and brought with it several updates on fighters such as TJ Grant, Benson Henderson and Matt Brown.
Grant, who remains the No. 1 contender in the UFC’s lightweight division, is still recovering from a concussion suffered in training.
After finishing Gray Maynard last May for his fifth consecutive victory, Grant was expected to challenge for the title. However, with lingering effects from the concussion still hurting him, he is looking to return in October when the UFC’s visit Canada and his native province home of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Speaking of the UFC lightweight title, former champion “Smooth” Henderson made sure everyone knows he didn’t screw up when accepting the challenge of Rustam Khabilov on Twitter.
Some wondered if Henderson got Khabilov and Khabib Nurmagomedov mixed up, but he told Ariel Helwani that “looking at the rankings, the only guy who makes sense is Rustam Khabilov, who is ranked No. 14.”
Henderson is targeting May for his next fight after earning a decision over Josh Thomson this past January.
Brown, another fighter on the injured list, wants to return in May on the Cincinnati card. He is nearing 100-percent after suffering an injury before his planned fight with Carlos Condit.
