The third meeting between Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman has been officially added to the World Series of Fighting 11 card. Officials made the announcement recently.

Set for July 5, the event has yet to secure a venue or location. Lightweight champion Justin Gaethje will meet Nick Newell in the main event.

Fitch (25-6-1) was originally scheduled to meet Jake Shields, but Shields suffered an injury in training and was forced out. The former No. 1 UFC welterweight title contender has split his two previous meetings with Burkman.

Burkman (27-10) evened his record with Fitch when he scored a submission victory over him in the WSOF last year. The first meeting between the two occurred in 2006 inside the Octagon, with Fitch earning the submission.

Over his last seven fights, Burkman has posted a 6-1 record. His lone loss came to Steve Carl for the WSOF welterweight title. Fitch is fighting for the third time with the promotion, holding a 1-1 record.
