Tom Watson weathered the storm Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 47, surviving an onslaught from Sam Alvey and a serious injury to win.
Watson picked up a decision win on the prelim card from Bangor, Maine. On the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show, it was reported that he suffered injured his leg, something Watson himself confirmed on Twitter.
“Fractured my tibia early in the fight but all the great support pushed me through,” he wrote.
Brian Stann, a long-time training partner of Watson’s, posted that he is “really really tough (Watson), almost to a fault.”
Watson (17-7) snapped a two-fight losing skid – which was the first of his career – by defeating Sam Alvey. He is 2-3 in five UFC appearances overall.
