Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and ex-Strikeforce middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold appear to be on a collision course to fight inside the Octagon.
Machida (22-5) recently picked up a quick finish over C.B. Dollaway, ending his year with a win. Rockhold (13-2), meanwhile, earned a 3-0 record in 2014, all of which were finishes.
After seeing “The Dragon” drop Dollaway, Rockhold sent him a message on Twitter asking to fight next. He included UFC president Dana White in the message, which found its way to the boss.

For now, UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will defend his title in February against Vitor Belfort, and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is expected to meet the winner if he survives his next encounter. After that, a Machida-Rockhold winner would have strong consideration as the No. 1 contender.
