Bellator MMA president Scott Coker confirmed on a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour” that Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will meet Cheick Kongo at Bellator 134.
Set for February 27 from Uncasville, Connecticut and the Mohegan Sun, the card will feature light heavyweight champion Emanuel Newton vs. Liam McGeary on Spike TV.
Lawal (14-4) has picked up two straight wins and will be competing at heavyweight for the first time since 2009. He stopped Joe Vedepo to close out 2014.
Kongo (22-9-2) earned a win over Lavar Johnson in September and is 4-1 since joining Bellator from the UFC.
“We’re disappointed we had to delay these fights between Bobby Lashley and James Thompson, and Douglas Lima and Paul Daley, but I have no doubt that these matchups will be fantastic once they eventually come to fruition,” Bellator MMA CEO Scott Coker said. “Fortunately, we’re able to replace the bouts with equally entertaining contests for our fans.”
Daley will now meet Andre Santos in the co-main event.
