Tim Means found his groove early at UFC 184, finishing off Ultimate Fighter finalist Dhiego Lima for his 23rd career victory.

Means (23-6-1) earned his third straight victory and fifth in the last six bouts. He’s 4-3 over two stints with the UFC.

After connecting with a sharp elbow that dropped Lima, Means remained patient. Instead of rushing in and getting caught, he deliberately picked Lima apart before putting together a heavy dose of lefts and rights to end it.

“I’ve been letting guys get away and that’s been eating at me,” Means said. “If you look at my record, I finish fights. I feel good at 170 pounds and I have the best elbows in the division.”

Means had earned back-to-back decisions over Marcio Alexandre and Hernani Perpetuo after a decision loss to Neil Magny in his UFC return in 2014. He picked up a pair of victories in Legacy FC – both via finish – to earn another shot with the promotion.
