John Makdessi will replace Khabib Nurmagomedov and face Donald Cerrone at UFC 187, officials announced recently.

Set for May 23 from Las Vegas, the card features a pair of world title fights in Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson and Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort.

Makdessi (13-3) has won four of his last five, including a victory this past weekend over Shane Campbell. He’ll be stepping in for Nurmagomedov, who suffered a knee injury and will be out of action.

Cerrone (27-6) is on a seven-fight win streak that includes a recent win over Benson Henderson.
