Bellator returned Friday night with a world title fight, as Bellator 140 went down from the Mohegan Sun Arena.
In the main event, Andrey Koreshkov spoiled the first defense for welterweight champion Douglas Lima, claiming the belt with a decision victory. Koreshkov, who moved to 18-1 in his career, earned the victory by scores of 48-47, 50-45 and 50-45.
Koreshkov’s first challenger may have emerged in the co-main event, as Paul Daley finished Dennis Olson. “Semtex” scored a TKO early in the second round.
Stepping in on just a few days notice, Roger Carroll was knocked out by Brennan Ward in the first round. Ward landed a clean shot, flooring Carroll and improving to 11-3 in his career.
A battle of former college wrestlers between Chris Honeycutt and Paul Bradley was declared a no-contest after the two clashed heads early in the second round. Honeycutt was left with a nasty cut that forced the doctor to call it.
Michael Page started off the all-welterweight main card in impressive fashion, finishing Rudy Bears in just 65 seconds. “MVP” danced his way to his eighth win in his career.
Dean Hancock, Kaline Medeiros, Ryan Quinn, Remo Cardarelli, Kin Moy, Parker Porter and Nicolas Sergiacomi all earned wins on the prelims.
