Tecia Torres entered the UFC as a top strawweight, and she continues to remain on the short list of contenders after besting Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger at UFC 194 Saturday night.

Torres (7-0) picked up her third Octagon victory, adding to decision wins over Angela Hill and Angela Magana.

“Everybody knows me as a striker, but I want to be well-rounded,” Torres said. “That way I can get all the top fights that I deserve.”

After entering The Ultimate Fighter on the heels of wins over Felice Herrig, Rose Namajunas and Paige VanZant, many believed Torres would claim the title. She was bested by Randa Markos in a stunning upset, but was re-inserted into the field. However, the “Tiny Tornado” dropped a decision to eventual winner Carla Esparza.

Jones-Lybarger (6-2) was making her UFC debut as a replacement for Michelle Waterson, who exited the fight with a knee injury last month.

“I know she’s a tough girl,” she said. “We worked on footwork because we knew she would come right at (me).”
