Joanna Jedrzejczyk was asked how hard it is to become UFC champion – and even harder to remain in that position ahead of UFC 211 earlier this week on “UFC Tonight.”

Jedrzejczyk defends her strawweight title against Jessica Andrade Saturday night.

“That’s the difference. In the UFC, there are 500 fighters, but only 11 champions,” she said. “Last year was crazy for the other champions, so many lost their titles. It’s easier to become the champion than to defend the belt.”

Recently, Jedrzejczyk moved her training to the U.S. with American Top Team, which saw her partner up with fellow UFC 211 fighter Junior dos Santos.

“I’m happy I did this move to American Top Team because I train with the best coaches in the world and have many great sparring partners,” she said.
