Julia Budd claimed a split decision over Arlene Blencowe to remain featherweight champion Friday night at Bellator 189.

The event aired live on Spike from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

Budd’s win left some doubt in the minds of fans and judges, as two gave it to Budd, 49-46, with the other scoring it for Blencowe, 48-47.

The victory was the second for Budd over Blencowe, as she scored a decision in the fight prior to her winning the belt.

Budd improved to 11-2 in her career, including nine consecutive wins since a 2011 defeat at the hands of Ronda Rousey when both were competing in Strikeforce. Blencowe is 10-7 overall, as her three-fight win streak was snapped.

Rafael Lovato Jr. picked up a decision win over Chris Honeycutt in the co-main event, with Chidi Njokuani topping Hisako Kato via decision.

Lovato, a multi-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion, used several submission attempts to thwart the takedowns of Honeycutt, a two-time NCAA All-American wrestler. The Brazilian is now 7-0 overall in his career and 3-0 with Bellator.

David Rickels began the main card with a decision vs. Adam Piccolotti.

Among those scoring wins on the prelims were former UFC fighter Sam Sicilia, who topped ex-champion Marcos Galvao via decision, Gaston Bolanos, Mandel Nallo, Brandon Phillips, Juliana Velasquez and Cris Williams.
