In a bit of an upset, Chael Sonnen defeated Quinton “Rampage” Jackson via decision to advance in the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix.
The bout took place in the main event slot for Bellator 192 from The Forum live on Paramount Network.
Sonnen, a former UFC light heavyweight and middleweight title challenger, claimed sweeping 29-28 scores over Jackson, who previously held the UFC light heavyweight title.
Rory MacDonald finally secured a major MMA title, defeating Douglas Lima to become the new welterweight champion.
MacDonald, who was unsuccessful in his pursuit of UFC gold, scored a decision over Lima.
For MacDonald, the win was his 20th in 24 pro fights and the second straight since signing with Bellator after a run in the UFC that included wins over current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia.

Lima (29-7) had his second run as champion come to and in his second title defense. He had scored a decision victory last June over Lorenz Larkin.
